A literature‑centered exploration of the Spanish‑speaking world through a range of primary texts—short fiction, poetry, theater, and excerpts from novels—with film, music, and other popular culture sources used selectively to deepen analysis. The syllabus draws on both historically marginalized or less‑studied voices and widely recognized authors, including key figures of the Boom and Post‑Boom, and extends the archive to Spanish‑language texts produced in what is today the United States. The course emphasizes race, gender, and colonization as central lenses for close reading, interpretation, and analytical discussion, with focused development of advanced oral expression. Conducted entirely in Spanish. Rotating themes may include: (a) race and racialization; (b) gender, sexuality, and the politics of the body; (c) colonization, empire, and decolonial resistance.
