Data visualization can be the key to understanding complex data patterns. Data visualization is an amalgamation of computer science, cognitive science, art, graphic design, interaction and user-centered design, and communications. In this project-based course, students will learn and employ principles from these fields to develop rich interactive visualization tools for the public and scientific research to foster better understanding of the data. Students will gain experience designing, working, and developing prototypes directly with scientists to enable meaningful exploration and analysis of their data. Pre-requisites are CS 1 and CS 2 or equivalent.
