Postdoctoral Scholar Research Associate in the Policy and Environmental Research on Markets, Integration, and Trade (PERMIT) Lab
The Policy and Environmental Research on Markets, Integration, and Trade (PERMIT) Lab at Caltech seeks a postdoctoral scholar research associate (postdoc) to start in spring or summer of 2027. The Postdoc appointment will run for two years, unless a shorter term is mutually agreeable.
This position is designed for an entrepreneurial, PhD-level researcher with a strong interest in academic work or environmental policy work. The postdoctoral scholar will report primarily to faculty member Prakash Mishra but will additionally be part of a vibrant community of other postdocs, faculty members, and research staff focused on environmental economics from a variety of backgrounds. Opportunities for collaboration include ongoing research on the design of conservation easement programs and the impact of trade policy on environmental degradation and development in Mexico and Chile. The postdoc is expected to dedicate significant time to developing their own research agenda.
The ideal candidate has a research agenda in environmental economics with some background in remote sensing data. Candidates may use this postdoctoral fellowship as a stepping stone to a job in hand or as a chance to develop a broader research agenda before going on the market.
