D. R. (Rod) Kiewiet

Professor of Political Science

Profile

Rod Kiewiet has written four books and dozens of articles, and he has served on several editorial boards and executive councils. His research interests span a variety of topics in politics, history, and public policy. Much of his work uses empirical analyses to better understand questions in formal political theory. He is currently writing a book on the history of public school finance. He also maintains an interest in the role of quantitative analysis in the world of sports. He served as a consultant on the film Moneyball, and co-taught a freshman seminar called "The Theory and Practice of Moneyball" with Fred Claire, former general manager of the Dodgers.
