Assistant Professor of Philosophy

The Division of the Humanities and Social Sciences at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) invites applications for a tenure-track position in philosophy, beginning Fall 2020. The appointment will be at the assistant professor level; however, exceptionally well-qualified applicants at higher levels may also be considered. Area of specialization: Value theory, broadly construed. Possible research areas include: normative and applied ethics, political philosophy, social choice theory, moral psychology. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research connects value theory to science or technology. We are seeking highly qualified candidates who are committed to a career in research and teaching. The term of an untenured initial appointment is four years and is contingent upon completion of the Ph.D. degree.
