Situated in the heart of Pasadena at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains, Caltech's 124-acre campus is 10 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles.
Most of the HSS division is housed in two buildings on campus: Baxter Hall (building 77 on the campus map) and Dabney Hall (building 40). The division's administrative offices are on the second floor of Baxter Hall; faculty offices, laboratories, classrooms, and research centers are spread throughout both buildings.
Some HSS faculty, postdoc, and staff offices are located in and adjacent to the Caltech Brain Imaging Center in the Broad Center for the Biological Sciences (building 96). The Einstein Papers Project is found along the eastern edge of campus at 363 S. Hill Avenue (building 7).
Caltech is accessible from pretty much anywhere in L.A. via several different forms of public and private transportation. Visit the directions page for more information on getting to campus.
Caltech campus visitors may park in any commuter (unreserved) stall on campus with a daily or weekly permit. Visitor permits are required for all campus lots between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and may be purchased at automated pay stations within the lots. View the campus map for parking locations. Parking and commuter services can provide information for electric vehicles, carpool, vanpool, BikeLab, and the JPL shuttle as well as parking and public transportation information.
