A poet, critic, and journalist, Amy Gerstler is author of numerous acclaimed poetry collections, including Dearest Creature (2009, a New York Times Book Review Notable Book); Ghost Girl (2004); Medicine (2000); and Bitter Angel (1995), which won the National Book Critics Circle Award. Her work has appeared in a variety of publications and collections, including The Paris Review, The New Yorker, and Best American Poetry. Combining the precision observations of the scientist and the poet, Gerstler's poems capture the humor, melancholy, and luminous particularity of everyday objects and the natural world. Gerstler teaches at the University of California, Irvine.
