I am a U.S. legal historian who specializes in race and foreign relations during the nineteenth-century. I graduated with a BA from the University of South Florida before heading to the University of Florida for grad school. Under the direction of Elizabeth Dale, I earned my Ph.D. in December, 2010. After graduation, I taught briefly at LaGuardia Community College of the City University of New York before accepting a New Faculty Fellowship with the American Council of Learned Societies. I have taken up residency at the California Institute of Technology, where I currently teach classes in U.S. history. My CV is available here, and you can check out my work on SSRN here. When I am away from campus, I enjoy running, traveling, politics, and watching sports of all kinds. I live in Pasadena, California. |
