Research Background

I am a 4th year graduate student in the Social Sciences program at Caltech. I study the social and cognitive factors that influence our decision-making, such as how we respond to sales pitches or requests for charity. My research focuses in particular on the concept of social influence -- how others are able to persuade us to change our actions or beliefs. Some of my current empirical work examines how doctors in the United States are influenced by pharmaceutical salespeople. My theoretical work formalizes these types of interactions by incorporating psychological concepts of persuasion into standard economic models. For more details about my research, please click here.

I will be on the job market in the summer/fall of 2014.
