• Canadian Journal of Economics publisher changed to Blackwell and status to profit.
• Reproduction publisher changed to Soc Endocrinology.
• Journal of Biological Chemistry's zero subscription price replaced with 2005 figure of $2095.
• Journal of Algebraic Geometry's publisher changed to University Press, since AMS is distributor, not publisher.
• Journal of Medical Microbiology's publisher changed to Society General Microbiology (because of a recent change of publisher) and status updated to reflect non-profit.
• Society General Microbiology's data on Microbiology updated; JPI has two entries under this journal's ISSN (Microbiology-UK and Microbiology-SGM) and we used the first entry but it appears both entries are for the same journal. This dramatically changed the cost-effectiveness and changed the status to green. The updated totals reflect 1757 papers, with 10,644 cites during the 1998-2002 period.
• Society General Microbiology's data on International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology updated. This journal's name changed from International Journal of Systematic Bacteriology during the period, with a new ISSN. As a result, JPI's data was divided across two entries. Combining the data dramatically changed the cost-effectiveness and changed the status to green. The updated totals reflect 1167 papers, with 6358 cites during the 1998-2002 period.
• The Society of Chemical Industry contracts for the publication of Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology, Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Pest Management Science, and Polymer International, and these journals' statuses were updated to reflect their actual owner.
• Academic Medicine's publisher updated to AAMC, and profit status to non-profit.
• Japanese Journal of Applied Physics consists of JJAP 1 and JJAP 2, which are sold only as a bundle. We had listed these separately, as does ISI. The total number of articles is 9825 and the number of cites is 25337.
• Arthritis and Rheumatism and Arthritis and Rheumatism: Arthritis Care and Research share the same issn number and are both published for the American College of Rhematology, a non-profit organization, and handled by Wiley-Liss. Our reading of the Ulrich's website suggests that the institutional price for A and R includes both of these journals. A and R has 1696 papers and 19,568 cites. A and R Art Care and Res has 150 papers, and 170 cites. Adding these figures gives 1846 papers and 19,738 cites. Publisher changed to American College of Rhematology.
• Cancer and Cancer Cytology are both published by the American Cancer Society through Wiley. They share the same ISSN number and, according to their website, both are included in the institutional price. Together they have 3766 articles and 25,801 cites. Publisher changed to American Cancer Society.
• Reproduction changed its name and its ISBN number in 2001. Because of this, the JPI record of articles and citations in 98-02 gives Reproduction no credit for the articles published under the old name Journal of Reproduction and Fertility. Summing the articles and citations published under the two names during that period, we have 946 articles and we have 2876 citations.
• Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery: American Volume dropped due to missing data.
• Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery: British Volume's missing data on citations updated to 2281 cites in 1998-2002.
• Because of peculiar price listing (which seem inconsistent with the data on the journal website) and missing data, we added or updated Physical Review A (Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics), Physical Review B (Condensed Matter and Materials Physics). Physical Review C, Physical Review D, Physical Review E, Physics Review Letters, and Reviews of Modern Physics.
• Diqui Wuli Xuebao omitted because it is not an English language journal.
• Journals listed as LIPPINCOTT WILLIAMS & WILKINS (Springer-Kluwer) (Wolters Kluwer) changed to LIPPINCOTT WILLIAMS & WILKINS (Wolters Kluwer)
• December 2, 2005: Journal of Vegetation Science, AOAC International Journal, American Society of Agricultural Engineers: Transactions, and Asian-Australasian Journal of Animal Sciences changed to non-profit.
• Dec 3, 2005: American Journal of Otology changed its name, so we missed some citations. The update gives it 1576 cites and 748 papers.
• Jan 10, 2006: ChemPhysChem start date corrected to be 2000, Advanced Synthesis and Catalysis start date corrected to 1834.
• Jan 16, 2006: Portland Press changed to non-profit status.
• Feb 27, 2006: IOP Publishing changed to non-profit status.
