Berlin Film Festival 2009 review:

"This is a powerful, challenging film, and one of the few at the festival that actually expected its audience to think for themselves."

The story and fate of three families: A Jewish family destroyed by the massacres of the Nazis in Lithuania; the son trying to find out more about his father's murderers. The family of the culprit who flew to America. The Kramers, a parliamentarian social democratic family, dissolving itself miserably in today's Vienna.  Ratz, passionately hating his father, is a "computer nerd" who invented a video game that allows killing his father's image as often as possible, goes to the US to help a former student friend and possibly find clients for his product.

The condemnation of the last century bundled in these three families clearly show that there is no escape from its own past.
