The Division of the Humanities and Social Sciences at the California Institute of Technology invites applications for one Postdoctoral Fellowship at Caltech’s Social Science Experimental Laboratory (SSEL) starting Fall 2013, under the direction of Professor Thomas Palfrey, to conduct research on projects related to experimental game theory, experimental political economy, and experimental economics. Ph.D.’s in economics or related fields are preferred. Experience designing and conducting computerized interactive social science laboratory experiments is required. Theoretical modeling skills in one or more of the areas of microeconomics, game theory, and political science are highly desirable, as is familiarity or expertise in the statistical analysis of social scientific data. The SSEL Fellow is expected to collaborate with graduate students in economics and political science, participate and be engaged in the intellectual activities here, such as seminars and outside speaker series. A portion of the SSEL Fellow’s time will be allocated to assisting the director, staff, and experimenters at SSEL. Funding is guaranteed for one year, with the possibility of extending the funding to a second year.
Caltech is a great multi-disciplinary research environment with excellent resources for laboratory experimentation, and is at the research forefront of many areas of experimental and behavioral economics, microeconomic theory, and political economy.
